Succulents grow well in Zone 9b when planted in fast-draining soil and a spot that does not stay wet, since our summer rain can rot them.
Water deeply only when the soil has dried; our humidity and rain mean succulents usually need far less water than people expect.
Many can, but some scorch in peak summer sun; check the light needs of each plant and acclimate new plants gradually.
Match each one to its light. Some take full sun outdoors while others prefer bright indirect light inside. Tell us where it will live and we can help you choose.
Stretching usually means too little light. Move it to a brighter spot, and avoid overwatering, which is the other common cause of trouble in our humid climate.
