Succulents Questions
Do succulents grow well in Florida?+
Succulents grow well in Zone 9b when planted in fast-draining soil and a spot that does not stay wet, since our summer rain can rot them.
How often should I water succulents here?+
Water deeply only when the soil has dried; our humidity and rain mean succulents usually need far less water than people expect.
Can succulents take full Florida sun?+
Many can, but some scorch in peak summer sun; check the light needs of each plant and acclimate new plants gradually.
How do I choose succulents for outdoors versus indoors?+
Match each one to its light. Some take full sun outdoors while others prefer bright indirect light inside. Tell us where it will live and we can help you choose.
Why is my succulent stretching or getting leggy?+
Stretching usually means too little light. Move it to a brighter spot, and avoid overwatering, which is the other common cause of trouble in our humid climate.
