Southern Horticulture’s operating philosophy includes a commitment to “give back” to the local community and to the world. We recognize our fundamental responsibility to be good stewards of our neighbors and of the earth, and we gladly support others who work towards these goals.
The Florida Native Plant Society (FNPS) is a non-profit organization focused on preserving, conserving, and restoring Florida's native plants and ecosystems. Founded in 1980, it supports habitat protection, rare plant conservation, research, public education, sustainable landscaping, and advocacy for environmental policies. FNPS engages in hands-on efforts like land management, plant surveys, and citizen science projects to ensure the survival of Florida's natural heritage.
Slow Food is a global, grassroots organization founded in Italy in 1986 by Carlo Petrini as a response to the rise of fast food and the diminishing appreciation for local culinary traditions. The movement promotes the enjoyment of food that is good for consumers, produced in a clean way that does not harm the environment, and provides fair conditions and pay for producers.
Habitat for Humanity is a global nonprofit organization dedicated to building and improving affordable housing for individuals and families in need. Established in 1976 by Millard and Linda Fuller in Americus, Georgia, the organization operates in more than 70 countries, including the United States.
Matanzas Riverkeeper is a grassroots, non-profit organization dedicated to ensuring that the Guana, Tolomato, and Matanzas rivers remain clean and healthy through a commitment to drinkable, fishable, and swimmable water. Their mission is to protect the health of the Guana, Tolomato, Matanzas estuary and watershed through advocacy, education, and community engagement.
The Garden Club of St. Augustine, established in 1926, is a non-profit educational organization dedicated to promoting horticulture, floral design, beautification, and conservation. Their mission is to preserve, protect, and educate within the community.
The Florida Wildlife Federation (FWF), established in 1936, is a private, statewide, non-profit citizens' conservation education organization dedicated to conserving Florida's wildlife, habitats, and natural resources through education, advocacy, and science-based stewardship.
Established in 2009, FOSAA is a non-profit organization committed to making The Amp more accessible to the community. They support events like family movie nights and the annual Camp Rock summer camp for middle and high school students. FOSAA also provides grants for schools and non-profit organizations to host special events and family-friendly activities.
