Seed Starting Tips

Use Quality Seed-Starting Mix

Don't use garden soil for seed starting. A sterile, lightweight seed-starting mix provides the drainage and aeration seedlings need.

Watch Your Watering

Keep seed-starting mix consistently moist but not waterlogged. A spray bottle works well for gentle watering without disturbing tiny seeds.

Time It Right for Florida

Our planting calendar differs from northern states. Cool-season crops go in fall, warm-season in spring. Ask our staff for exact timing.

Harden Off Before Transplanting

Gradually expose indoor seedlings to outdoor conditions over 7-10 days before transplanting into garden beds.
