Information We Collect

We collect information you choose to send us, such as your name, email address, phone number, project details, plant questions, or other message content when you submit a form or contact the nursery. When this browser permits it, we also collect anonymous events such as pages viewed, searches completed, results selected, filters, component views and clicks, form attempts, and confirmed form success. We do not collect typed keystrokes, mouse trails, screenshots, or session replay.

How We Use Information

We use this information to respond to inquiries, follow up on plant and landscaping requests, operate the website, improve page performance, protect against abuse, and understand which public resources are useful to visitors. We may compare anonymous, aggregated browsing patterns with store-local weather, content releases, inventory, or sales totals. A time-based or aggregate association is not treated as proof that a particular person made a purchase. Southern Horticulture does not sell personal information.

Cookies and Analytics

We use our first-party event system, Vercel Analytics, and Vercel Speed Insights to measure site usage and performance. Our first-party system uses a random, HTTP-only session cookie that expires after 30 minutes of inactivity. Only its SHA-256 hash is stored with events. It works across tabs but does not create a persistent visitor ID. Event and page-view IDs prevent duplicate delivery. Campaign attribution may be kept in browser storage for up to 30 days when measurement is allowed.

Your Analytics Control

We honor Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control for behavioral measurement. Those signals, or the control below, suppress our event stream, component analytics, campaign storage, Vercel Analytics, and Speed Insights. Forms and other requested site functions continue to work.

Anonymous Garden Pass

If you create a Garden Pass from a plant list, we store the selected public plant slugs, an opaque signed token hash, its issue and expiry times, and its redemption status. The QR and short code contain no name, email, phone, payment detail, or raw browsing history. When anonymous measurement is allowed and an active 30-minute session exists, the pass may retain that hashed session key. An authorized exact order or receipt match can then confirm that the anonymous list and session reached that order. It does not identify a person or connect unrelated visits. Do Not Track, Global Privacy Control, and this browser's opt-out prevent the session link while leaving the Garden Pass itself available.

Third-Party Services

We use trusted service providers to run the website and respond to customers. These may include Vercel for hosting, analytics, and performance insights; Supabase for website data and form storage; Resend for email notifications; Sentry for error monitoring when enabled; and Google Maps for location features. These providers process information only as needed to provide their services to us.

Form Submissions and Retention

Contact form submissions may be stored in our website database and emailed to our team so we can respond. We keep inquiry records only as long as reasonably needed for customer service, business operations, security, and legal compliance. You may contact us to ask about a submission or request deletion when retention is no longer required.

Raw anonymous events and derived session, hourly, and daily facts use separate retention classes. Exact automated deletion periods are being finalized; no raw-event deletion will run before required aggregate facts are safely produced. You may contact us about deletion or retention at any time.
