Live oaks, magnolias, crepe myrtles, and many other shade and flowering trees grow well in Zone 9b when given room for their mature size.
Space trees by their mature canopy width, and keep large shade trees well away from the house, septic, and power lines.
Fall and winter are ideal so roots can establish before summer heat, though container trees can be planted year round with regular water.
Water deeply and regularly through the first year so roots establish, keep mulch a few inches off the trunk, and avoid heavy pruning until the tree settles in.
Start with the mature size and the space, then match sun, soil, and whether you want shade, flowers, or screening. Bring photos and our team can help you choose.
