Prunus umbellata
Fresh this week. Last restocked Mar 11.
A deciduous native small tree or large shrub found in North and Central Florida hammocks and woodlands, with a short thickened trunk and dense, flat-topped crown. In early spring before leaves emerge, the entire crown erupts with masses of white flowers, followed by small purple-black edible fruits. Starting at $34.95.
Grows in full sun to partial shade; full sun encourages the best flowering and fruiting display, though afternoon shade on sandy NE Florida soils helps retain soil moisture and reduces irrigation needs.
Moderate drought tolerance once established; supplement irrigation during dry periods, especially in sandy soils. Young trees benefit from regular watering until roots are established.
Adaptable to a wide range of well-drained soils including NE Florida's sandy loams; not particular about pH. Apply a balanced slow-release fertilizer in spring; no heavy feeding required for established plants.

Shares 4 of the same needs: similar light, sandy, zone 9a hardiness, and pollinator-friendly.
