Bald Cypress thrives in full sun and tolerates part sun; it requires at least 6 hours of direct light daily for best growth and form. It is well-suited to NE Florida's open landscape sites, including wet areas and retention ponds.
Extremely adaptable — tolerates flooding, standing water, and wet sites as well as moderately dry upland conditions once established. Young trees benefit from regular watering during the first 1–2 years; established trees require minimal supplemental irrigation in NE Florida.
Tolerates a wide range of soils from sandy uplands to heavy wet clays; slightly acidic pH preferred. Per UF/IFAS, apply a balanced slow-release fertilizer in spring to support establishment; mature trees in landscape settings rarely need supplemental fertilization.
