Hedera helix
Fresh this week. Last restocked Mar 11.
English Ivy (Hedera helix) is a vigorous evergreen vine and groundcover from Europe, with lobed dark green leaves and adhesive aerial rootlets that allow it to climb walls and tree trunks. Hardy through zone 9, it tolerates a wide range of light and soil conditions but is flagged as an emerging invasive concern in Florida — consult local extension guidelines before planting. Starting at $5.95.

Bloom season. Ideal planting window.
Retains foliage through winter.
English Ivy adapts to full sun through deep shade but grows most vigorously in partial shade in NE Florida. Plants in full afternoon sun may suffer leaf scorch in summer heat; a site with morning sun and afternoon shade is ideal. Dense shade slows growth significantly.
Water regularly until established, then reduce irrigation — ivy prefers soil that dries slightly between waterings. NE Florida's summer rains usually provide adequate moisture; avoid overwatering or waterlogged conditions, which encourage root rot and fungal disease in Florida's humidity.
Grows in most well-drained soils; not tolerant of consistently wet conditions. A light balanced fertilizer in spring supports lush foliage. Note: English Ivy is increasingly flagged as an invasive risk in Florida — check current local guidance before planting and consider Florida-native groundcover alternatives.
