Fresh this week. Last restocked Jun 25.
Pineapple guava (Acca sellowiana) is a dense evergreen shrub or small tree native to southern South America, bearing edible oval fruits with sweet, aromatic flesh and showy red-and-white flowers with fleshy petals. The silvery-green foliage and ornamental value make it a popular landscape and fruiting plant. Starting at $14.95.
Bloom season. Good planting window.
Active growing season.
Growth slows as temperatures cool.
Retains foliage through winter. Can be planted in mild winter periods.
Grows best in full sun (at least 6 hours daily) but tolerates partial shade; full sun produces the best flowering and fruit set in Northeast Florida.
Drought-tolerant once established; water deeply but infrequently during dry spells. Avoid waterlogged conditions. Note that fruiting in zone 9b may be reduced due to insufficient winter chilling hours compared to north Florida.
Tolerates a variety of well-drained soils including sandy coastal soils; excellent salt tolerance makes it ideal for coastal Northeast Florida gardens. Fertilize with a balanced slow-release fertilizer in spring; avoid excessive nitrogen that can reduce flowering.

Shares 7 of the same needs: full sun, moderate water, sandy, salt tolerance, deer resistance, zone 9a hardiness, and pollinator-friendly.
