Japanese privet (Ligustrum japonicum) is a vigorous evergreen shrub or small tree from Japan and Korea, producing glossy dark green leaves, fragrant white flower panicles in spring, and clusters of blue-black berries. Widely used for hedges and screens in NE Florida; note that UF/IFAS rates it high invasive risk statewide — site responsibly and remove volunteer seedlings.
