Plant Necklace Pod in full sun for best flowering and growth; it tolerates light shade but blooms most prolifically with 6+ hours of direct sun. Avoid low-lying sites where air circulation is poor, as humid stagnant air promotes fungal disease.
Once established, Necklace Pod is drought-tolerant and needs little supplemental irrigation in NE Florida. Water weekly for the first season to establish roots, then reduce to occasional deep watering during prolonged dry spells; overwatering encourages root rot.
Thrives in poor, sandy, well-drained soils typical of NE Florida coastal landscapes and requires no fertilization once established. Avoid clay or poorly drained sites; adding light organic matter at planting helps early establishment.
