Retains foliage through winter.
Prefers bright indirect light to part shade; in NE Florida, avoid intense direct afternoon sun which causes leaf scorch and brown edges — morning sun or dappled shade is ideal.
Keep soil evenly moist but not saturated; water a couple of times per week during the growing season and use filtered or rainwater when possible, as fluoride in tap water can cause leaf tip burn.
Plant in well-drained, organically rich sandy or loamy soil; apply a balanced slow-release foliage fertilizer in spring and summer, avoiding excess fertilizer salts that worsen fluoride toxicity.
