Fresh this week. Last restocked Apr 14.
Green and Gold (Chrysogonum virginianum var. australe) is a low, spreading native groundcover from the eastern US — including Florida — bearing cheerful yellow star-shaped flowers from spring through fall. It forms a mat of dark green, semi-evergreen foliage ideal for shaded woodland gardens and naturalized areas in NE Florida. Starting at $6.95.
Bloom season. Good planting window.

Ideal planting window.
Retains foliage through winter.
Grow Green and Gold in partial to full shade; it tolerates morning sun but needs protection from NE Florida's intense afternoon sun, which can scorch foliage and stop flowering. Deep shade under tree canopies is preferred.
Keep soil consistently moist but well-drained; this plant is not drought-tolerant and will fail in dry conditions. In NE Florida's sandy soils, amend with compost and mulch heavily to retain moisture through hot summers.
Prefers moist, humus-rich, slightly acidic (pH 5.5–6.5) loamy soil. Amend sandy NE Florida soil with compost before planting. Apply a light balanced slow-release fertilizer in spring; avoid heavy feeding which promotes foliage over flowers.
