Retains foliage through winter.
Swamp Twinflower grows well in part sun to full shade, making it ideal for NE Florida's shaded moist spots under trees or along shaded wetland edges. It tolerates more sun if soil stays consistently moist.
Prefers average to consistently moist soil; it is native to moist, shaded wetland edges and lakesides. In NE Florida sandy soils, water regularly or site where irrigation keeps soil moist. Established plants in shaded, moist areas need less supplemental water.
Plant in moist sandy or loamy soil with good organic content. Amend sandy soils with compost to improve moisture retention. Fertilize lightly in spring with a balanced slow-release formula; plants in humus-rich shaded sites may need no supplemental fertilizer.
