Retains foliage through winter.
Peace Lily requires bright indirect light or dappled shade — never direct sun, which scorches foliage. In NE Florida it is grown as a shaded patio container plant or in protected, deep-shade garden beds; it should be moved indoors when temperatures threaten to drop below 55°F.
Keep soil consistently moist but never waterlogged; allow the top inch to approach dryness before watering. In NE Florida's outdoor summer heat, containers may need watering every 2–3 days. Reduce frequency in cooler months.
Use a well-drained, humus-rich, slightly acidic potting mix (pH 5.8–6.5) with peat, perlite, and bark. For in-ground planting in shaded beds, amend NE Florida sandy soil with ample organic matter. Apply a balanced liquid fertilizer at half strength three times per year; over-fertilizing causes brown leaf tips.
