Syngonium podophyllum
Fresh this week. Last restocked Mar 4.
Arrowhead plant (Syngonium podophyllum) is a fast-growing tropical foliage plant valued for its arrow-shaped leaves in shades of green, cream, and pink. Best used as a container or houseplant in NE Florida; note that UF/IFAS cautions against outdoor planting due to its invasive potential when it escapes into natural areas. Starting at $7.95.
Good planting window.
Can be planted with extra attention to watering.
Ideal planting window.
Retains foliage through winter. Can be planted in mild winter periods.
Grow arrowhead plant in bright indirect light to partial shade. Avoid prolonged direct sun, which scorches the leaves. In NE Florida, a bright shaded patio, lanai, or interior space is ideal; direct morning light is tolerated.
Keep soil evenly moist during warm months; water when the top inch feels dry. In NE Florida's hot summers, plants wilt quickly without regular watering. Reduce frequency in cooler months but do not allow the soil to dry completely.
Use rich, well-draining potting mix with plenty of organic matter. Fertilize monthly during the growing season with a balanced liquid fertilizer diluted to half strength. Repot annually when roots become crowded.
