Retains foliage through winter.
Gerbera daisies perform best with morning sun and afternoon shade in NE Florida; intense afternoon sun causes bleaching and heat stress. Part sun (4–6 hours, preferably morning) extends bloom and plant longevity.
Water moderately and consistently; keep soil evenly moist but never soggy. Allow the crown to remain dry to prevent crown rot—water at the base, not overhead, and ensure excellent drainage.
Amend NE Florida's sandy soil with organic matter (compost or peat) before planting to improve moisture retention. Fertilize monthly during the growing season with a balanced slow-release fertilizer; avoid over-fertilizing with nitrogen.
