Phlox paniculata
Fresh this week. Last restocked Mar 4.
Garden Phlox (Phlox paniculata) bears large, fragrant domed flower clusters in white, pink, lavender, and red, attracting butterflies and hummingbirds. It is marginal in NE Florida zone 9b — summer heat and humidity promote powdery mildew and decline; select mildew-resistant cultivars and provide afternoon shade for best performance. Starting at $6.95.

May lose some foliage in cold snaps.
Prefers full morning sun with afternoon shade in NE Florida's intense summer heat; too much direct sun promotes powdery mildew and wilting. Good air circulation is essential to reduce disease pressure.
Requires consistent moisture — do not allow soil to dry out. Water at the base (avoid overhead irrigation) to minimize powdery mildew, which is a serious problem in Florida's humid summers. Mulch heavily to cool roots and conserve moisture.
Plant in fertile, well-drained, moisture-retentive loamy soil amended with compost. Fertilize monthly during the growing season with a balanced fertilizer. Note: Phlox paniculata is marginal in zone 9b — choose heat- and mildew-resistant cultivars and expect replanting may be needed.
