Bloom season. Ideal planting window.
Retains foliage through winter.
Grow in part to full shade; Fatsia cannot tolerate direct afternoon sun in NE Florida, which causes leaf scorch. An ideal site is the north or east side of a building or under a tree canopy with filtered light.
Water consistently to keep soil evenly moist but not waterlogged. In NE Florida's sandy soils, supplement with organic matter to retain moisture; mulch heavily to maintain soil moisture through hot summers.
Plant in moist, acidic, organically rich, well-drained soil. In NE Florida, amend sandy soil with compost. Fertilize in spring and early summer with a balanced slow-release fertilizer; avoid fertilizing in fall or winter.
