Fresh this week. Last restocked Mar 9.
Coastal plains palafox (Palafoxia integrifolia) is a slender Florida native annual or short-lived perennial of coastal scrub and sandy soils, bearing small pink to white composite flower heads on wiry branching stems. It is endemic to Florida's coastal counties and is an important nectar source for native bees and butterflies. An excellent plant for dry, sandy, native landscapes. Starting at $14.95.
Good planting window.
Handles summer heat well once established.
Bloom season. Ideal planting window.
Bloom season. Retains foliage through winter.
Plant in full sun (6–8 hours direct light daily) in northeast Florida; this native of dry coastal uplands declines in shade and thrives in the intense sunlight of Zone 9b.
Water sparingly once established; Palafoxia integrifolia is drought-adapted to sandy, nutrient-poor soils and does not tolerate wet or waterlogged conditions.
Grow in well-drained, sandy, acidic to neutral soil — avoid rich or amended soils, which reduce vigor. No fertilizer needed; excess nutrients promote foliage at the expense of flowers.
