Plant in full sun — Leavenworth's Tickseed requires at least 6 hours of direct sun daily and is naturally found in open pine flatwoods and sunny meadows throughout Florida.
Water seedlings until established; mature plants are drought-tolerant and prefer lean, moderately moist to dry conditions — avoid rich, consistently wet soil which causes flopping and reduces blooming.
Thrives in NE Florida's typical sandy, acidic soils with no amendments or fertilizer needed; lean, well-drained to seasonally moist soils mimic its natural flatwoods habitat and produce the strongest, most upright plants.
