Zizia aurea
Fresh this week. Last restocked Jun 25.
Golden Alexander (Zizia aurea) is a native North American perennial in the carrot family (Apiaceae), bearing flat-topped clusters of small golden-yellow flowers in spring above finely divided, compound foliage. Native to moist meadows, stream banks, and open woodlands from the Great Plains to the eastern United States. An important early-season nectar plant and larval host for the black swallowtail butterfly. Starting at $6.95.

Dormant — drops foliage.
Best in part sun to part shade; in NE Florida's intense heat, protection from afternoon sun is important — full sun can stress plants and shorten bloom season.
Prefers consistently moist soil; tolerates brief wet periods and periodic drought once established, but performs best in zone 9b with supplemental irrigation through the dry season.
Grows in loam to clay soils with adequate moisture; amend sandy Florida soils with organic matter to improve water retention; fertilize lightly in spring with a balanced slow-release product.
