Bloom season. Ideal planting window.
Retains foliage through winter.
Plant in full sun with a minimum of 5 hours direct sunlight for best bloom production. In NE Florida, a south- or west-facing location maximizes flowering.
Water regularly to keep soil evenly moist; Princess Flower does not tolerate drought or prolonged waterlogging. In NE Florida, supplement irrigation during dry spells and ensure good drainage to prevent root rot.
Grow in well-drained, slightly acidic soil. Amend sandy NE Florida soils with compost to improve moisture retention. Fertilize in spring and summer with an acidifying slow-release fertilizer; prune lightly after bloom cycles to maintain shape and stimulate repeat flowering. Note: UF/IFAS considers Tibouchina urvilleana potentially invasive — site responsibly.
