Rivina humilis
Fresh this week. Last restocked Mar 9.
Rouge Plant (Rivina humilis) is a small, semi-woody tropical perennial native from the southern United States through tropical America, producing delicate racemes of tiny white to pale pink flowers alongside striking translucent red berries that persist on the plant for months. The simultaneous display of flowers and glowing berries on the same stem makes it a charming accent for shaded garden settings and containers. It is native to parts of South Florida and thrives in warm, humid conditions. Starting at $7.95.

Retains foliage through winter.
Rouge Plant thrives in partial sun to full shade and is one of the best native options for shady NE Florida gardens. Avoid harsh afternoon sun, which bleaches foliage and reduces berry production. Under large trees is ideal.
Keep soil consistently moist, especially in drier shaded locations where competing tree roots draw moisture. Water during dry spells to maintain vigor; the plant may go semi-dormant in drought. Good drainage prevents root rot during Florida's rainy season.
Grows well in well-drained sandy or loamy soils with organic matter amendments to help retain moisture. Light fertilization in spring with a balanced slow-release fertilizer supports healthy growth. Minimal maintenance required; cut back leggy stems to encourage bushy regrowth.
