Hammock Snakeroot is a shade-adapted native; plant in part shade to full shade under tree canopy or along woodland edges where it naturally occurs in Florida hammock understories.
Moderately drought-tolerant once established in NE Florida; water during dry establishment period and supplement during extended dry spells. It tolerates a range from moist to very dry conditions.
Grow in well-drained sandy or loamy soil with slightly acidic pH. As a Florida native it requires no routine fertilization; top-dress with compost annually if desired. Low-maintenance once established.
