Sweet marjoram (Origanum majorana) is a tender Mediterranean herb with soft, velvety gray-green leaves and a sweeter, more delicate flavor than oregano. In NE Florida's zone 9b, it grows as a true perennial lasting 3–4 years — a longer-lived kitchen herb than in northern gardens — thriving in full sun and well-drained sandy soil.
