Fresh this week. Last restocked Jun 15.
Kangaroo Paw (Anigozanthos flavidus) is a striking perennial native to southwestern Australia, recognized for its velvety, tubular flowers borne on tall arching stems in shades of yellow, orange, red, and green. The unusual paw-shaped flowers are covered in fine hairs that give them their distinctive textured appearance. A popular cut flower and landscape accent, it is the floral emblem of Western Australia. Starting at $19.95.

Bloom season. Handles summer heat well once established.
Ideal planting window.
Retains foliage through winter.
Plant kangaroo paw in full sun (6+ hours) in NE Florida. It requires excellent air circulation to reduce the risk of ink disease (Alternaria fungus), which is exacerbated by Florida's humidity.
Drought-tolerant once established; water deeply but infrequently. In NE Florida's wet summers, ensure excellent drainage — soggy roots are the primary cause of decline. Allow soil to dry between waterings.
Requires fast-draining sandy or sandy-loam soil; amend heavy soils with coarse sand or perlite. Use a low-phosphorus fertilizer in spring; excess phosphorus can cause iron deficiency in Australian natives.
