May lose some foliage in cold snaps.
Grow in full sun to partial shade; full sun yields the most blooms. In NE Florida's summer heat, a site with morning sun and afternoon dappled shade helps extend flower production.
Water moderately and consistently; Cape Fuchsia prefers evenly moist, well-drained soil and is not truly drought-tolerant. Avoid waterlogged conditions, especially during Florida's rainy season.
Plant in fertile, well-draining sandy or loamy soil amended with compost. Apply a balanced slow-release fertilizer in spring. In NE Florida, Cape Fuchsia is reliably hardy in Zone 9b and can remain evergreen year-round; cut back hard in late winter to promote vigorous new growth.
