Retains foliage through winter.
Belize Sage thrives in part sun to part shade; afternoon shade is critical in NE Florida's intense summer heat, mimicking its native shaded hillside habitat. Avoid full sun, which causes leaf scorch and reduced flowering in hot humid climates.
Water regularly to maintain evenly moist soil; Belize Sage originates from moist, shaded slopes and should not be allowed to dry out completely. In NE Florida, NE Florida's rainy season generally meets its needs; supplement during dry winters and spring dry spells.
Plant in well-drained, average-fertility sandy or loamy soil. Apply a balanced slow-release fertilizer in spring to support vigorous growth and prolific flowering. Mulch generously to retain soil moisture and moderate root-zone temperature.
