Bougainvillea
Fresh this week. Last restocked Jun 25.
Bougainvillea is a vigorous thorny tropical vine from South America, celebrated for its spectacular display of papery bracts in colors ranging from magenta and purple to orange, red, white, and salmon. The true flowers are small and white, surrounded by the vivid bracts that give the plant its ornamental appeal. Starting at $24.95.

Bloom season. Retains foliage through winter.
Bougainvillea demands full sun — at least 6 hours of direct sun daily. Less sun means fewer bracts and sparse flowering; in NE Florida's ample sunshine it will bloom prolifically, especially in winter and spring.
Water deeply but infrequently; allow soil to dry between waterings to stress-trigger blooming. Overwatering promotes leafy growth at the expense of bracts — err on the dry side once established.
Plant in well-drained sandy or loamy soil; bougainvillea does not tolerate wet feet. Feed with a low-nitrogen, high-phosphorus fertilizer in spring and summer to encourage bract production without excessive vegetative growth.
