Retains foliage through winter.
Grow Bleeding Heart Vine in part sun to part shade; in NE Florida, filtered light or morning sun with afternoon shade is ideal. Too much direct afternoon sun causes leaf scorch in summer.
Water regularly to maintain moist, well-drained soil, especially during establishment. In NE Florida's rainy season, ensure drainage is adequate to prevent root rot. Reduce watering slightly in winter when growth slows.
Plant in well-drained sandy or loamy soil amended with organic matter. In NE Florida, apply a balanced slow-release fertilizer in spring before new growth and prune in late winter to encourage vigorous flowering shoots on current-season growth.
