Millettia reticulata
Fresh this week. Last restocked Mar 11.
Evergreen wisteria (Millettia reticulata) is a vigorous woody vine from China bearing hanging clusters of fragrant deep mauve flowers in summer and fall. Unlike invasive true wisterias, it is non-invasive and well-suited to NE Florida landscapes, thriving on trellises, fences, and arbors in zones 8–10. Starting at $95.00.
Plant in full sun for best flowering; tolerates part sun but may produce fewer blooms. In NE Florida's intense summer heat, afternoon shade is acceptable but not required.
Water regularly until established, then reduce to moderate irrigation. Once established, evergreen wisteria is reasonably drought-tolerant; water deeply during extended dry spells in summer.
Adapts to most well-drained soils including NE Florida's sandy soils. Amend with compost at planting; fertilize lightly in spring with a balanced slow-release fertilizer. Avoid excessive nitrogen, which promotes foliage over flowers.
