Downy Jasmine (Jasminum multiflorum) is a fast-growing evergreen tropical shrub from South Asia, blanketed in star-shaped white flowers from fall through spring in NE Florida. Hardy in zone 9b with protection from hard freezes, it can be trained as a sprawling hedge or allowed to mound; velvety soft foliage and near-continuous bloom make it a popular landscape choice. Starting at $12.95.

Bloom season. Retains foliage through winter.
Thrives in full sun to partial shade; best flower production occurs in full sun. In NE Florida it performs well in open beds or trained against a fence with good air circulation.
Water regularly during establishment, then reduce to moderate irrigation; it tolerates brief drought but flowers best with consistent moisture. Ensure good drainage — roots will rot in poorly drained or perpetually wet soil.
Plant in well-drained sandy or loamy soil. Apply a balanced slow-release shrub fertilizer in spring and again in early summer to support vigorous growth and continuous blooming. Avoid high-nitrogen formulas that promote excessive foliage over flowers.
