Retains foliage through winter.
Plant in full sun for maximum density and vigor; good air circulation in NE Florida's humid climate is important to prevent foliage diseases. Avoid dense shade, which produces thin, open growth.
Water deeply and regularly through the establishment year; once established, supplemental irrigation is needed during dry periods. Ensure excellent drainage — this hybrid does not tolerate waterlogged soil. In NE Florida Zone 9b summers, consistent soil moisture with dry intervals is key to success.
Prefers moist, well-drained, slightly acidic loam or clay-loam soil. In NE Florida's sandy sites, amend with compost and maintain a 2–3 inch mulch layer to conserve moisture. Apply a balanced slow-release fertilizer in early spring; avoid late-season applications.
