Citrus meyeri
Fresh this week. Last restocked Mar 11.
Meyer lemon (Citrus × meyeri) is a compact citrus hybrid, likely a cross between a true lemon and a mandarin, valued for its thin-skinned, slightly sweet fruits with lower acidity than standard lemons. The bushy tree bears fragrant flowers and round, deep-yellow to orange fruits. Starting at $39.95.
Bloom season. Good planting window.
Active growing season.
Growth slows as temperatures cool.
Bloom season. Retains foliage through winter. Can be planted in mild winter periods.
Plant Meyer lemon in full sun — at least 6–8 hours of direct sunlight daily. In NE Florida's summer heat, a site with slight afternoon wind protection is ideal but direct sun is non-negotiable for fruit production.
Water deeply but infrequently, allowing the top 2–3 inches of soil to dry between irrigations. Citrus in NE Florida's sandy soil dries quickly; mulch the root zone and watch for drought stress (leaf curl) during dry spells.
Plant in well-drained sandy or loamy soil with a pH of 6.0–6.5. Fertilize with a citrus-specific granular fertilizer (high nitrogen) three times per year — February, May, and October — following UF/IFAS citrus nutrition guidelines.
