Sorghastrum secundum
Fresh this week. Last restocked Mar 11.
A robust native Florida perennial bunchgrass notable for its distinctively one-sided flower spikes bearing bronze bracts, bright yellow anthers, and long reddish-brown awns that shimmer dramatically in sunlight. Dark green leaf blades can extend up to 18 inches long. Starting at $7.95.
Grow in full sun for best flowering and form; lopsided Indiangrass is adapted to Florida's open sunny flatwoods and does not perform well in shade.
Very low water needs once established; this native bunchgrass is adapted to NE Florida's dry sandy uplands and tolerates both drought and occasional flooding. Supplemental irrigation is seldom needed.
Thrives in poor, well-drained sandy or loamy soils — avoid fertilizing, which promotes lush leafy growth at the expense of flowering. Cut back to 4–6 inches in late winter before new growth emerges.

Shares 5 of the same needs: full sun, moderate water, sandy, zone 9a hardiness, and pollinator-friendly.
