Fresh this week. Last restocked Jun 25.
Cucumber (Cucumis sativus) is a warm-season vining annual in the gourd family, originating in South Asia and grown for its elongated, crisp green fruits used fresh or pickled. It produces yellow flowers on vigorous climbing vines that are commonly trained on trellises or allowed to sprawl in the vegetable garden. Starting at $3.50.

Cucumbers require full sun — a minimum of 6–8 hours of direct sunlight daily. In NE Florida, choose a site with unobstructed southern exposure. Peak summer heat (95°F+) can temporarily suppress fruit set; grow a spring crop (Feb–Apr) and a fall crop (July–Aug) to avoid the worst heat.
Cucumbers are heavy water users — provide 1–2 inches per week consistently, as uneven moisture causes bitter fruit and blossom drop. In NE Florida's sandy soils, water deeply 2–3 times per week and mulch to conserve moisture. Drip irrigation is preferred to keep foliage dry and reduce disease risk.
Plant in well-drained, fertile sandy loam with pH 6.0–7.0, amended with compost. Direct-seed; cucumbers do not transplant well. Apply a balanced vegetable fertilizer at planting and side-dress with nitrogen fertilizer 3–4 weeks after planting. In NE Florida, plan two seasons: spring (Feb–Apr) and fall (July–Aug).
