Cordyline australis
Fresh this week. Last restocked Jun 25.
Cabbage Tree (Cordyline australis) is a hardy, architectural evergreen from New Zealand, growing a single or branching trunk topped with fountains of sword-shaped leaves and reaching 10 to 20 feet. Tougher, more sun-tolerant, and far more cold-hardy than the tropical Ti Plant, it makes a bold structural accent for Northeast Florida landscapes. Starting at $6.95.
Plant in full sun for the strongest form and color; it also tolerates light shade. Unlike the tender Ti Plant, Cabbage Tree handles direct Florida sun well.
Water regularly until established, then it becomes very drought tolerant. Let the soil dry between waterings and avoid soggy ground.
Adapts to most well-drained soils, including sandy coastal sites. A light feeding in spring is plenty.
