Fresh this week. Last restocked Mar 4.
Prayer plant (Maranta leuconeura) is a low-growing tropical plant from the rainforests of Brazil, renowned for its boldly patterned leaves marked with red veins and dark green spots on a pale green background. Named for the way its leaves fold upward at night, it is a popular houseplant prized for its ornamental foliage. Starting at $7.95.
Good planting window.
Can be planted with extra attention to watering.
Ideal planting window.
Retains foliage through winter.
Keep Prayer Plant in bright indirect light indoors; direct Florida sun will scorch and bleach leaves. Outdoors in summer, site in deep or dappled shade.
Keep soil consistently moist but never waterlogged; use filtered or rainwater when possible, as Prayer Plant is sensitive to chlorine and fluoride in tap water, which causes leaf-tip browning. Reduce watering slightly in winter.
Use a rich, well-draining potting mix with slightly acidic pH (5.5–6.0). Feed with a balanced liquid fertilizer at half strength every two weeks during the growing season (spring–summer); withhold fertilizer in fall and winter.
