Plant Florida Green-eyes in full sun; it is a sun-loving endemic adapted to NE Florida's dry, bright sandhills and pine flatwoods. Some light afternoon shade is tolerated but reduces bloom count.
Extremely drought-tolerant once established, thanks to its deep tuberous root system. Water minimally after establishment; overwatering in NE Florida's humid summers promotes root rot. Ideal for xeriscaping and dry, sandy sites.
Requires dry, sandy, well-drained soil typical of NE Florida sandhills and pine flatwoods; it does not tolerate clay or wet soils. No fertilization needed — rich soil promotes weak growth. A perfect low-input native for sandy xeric landscapes.
