Chrysopsis gossypina
Fresh this week. Last restocked Apr 14.
A short-lived biennial to perennial wildflower of the southeastern coastal plain, characterized by woolly, cottony foliage and bright yellow composite daisy-like flower heads. Native to longleaf pine sandhills, coastal dunes, and Florida scrub, where it tolerates extremely harsh, dry, sandy conditions. Starting at $6.95.
Full sun is essential — this Florida scrub and sandhill native is adapted to open, unshaded habitats and declines rapidly in shade.
Extremely drought-tolerant; requires excellent drainage and thrives in the dry, infertile sandy soils of NE Florida. Overwatering or poor drainage will kill it. No supplemental irrigation needed once established.
Plant in dry, infertile sandy or coarse-grained soils with excellent drainage — mimicking its native longleaf pine sandhill and coastal dune habitat. Do not fertilize; rich soils are detrimental. Self-seeds, so allow some pods to mature for natural succession.

Shares 5 of the same needs: full sun, low water, sandy, zone 9a hardiness, and pollinator-friendly.
