Semponium
Fresh this week. Last restocked Jun 15.
Semponium (×Semponium spp.) is a novel intergeneric hybrid of Sempervivum and Aeonium, forming bold rosettes in a wide range of colors from red to green to near-black. It combines the architectural beauty of Aeonium with improved cold tolerance, making it a striking, low-water accent plant for containers and rock gardens in Northeast Florida. Starting at $24.95.
Semponium prefers bright light with some direct sun; provide morning sun and afternoon shade in Northeast Florida to prevent leaf scorch in peak summer heat.
Water infrequently, allowing soil to dry between waterings; in Florida's wet season, ensure fast-draining soil or container culture to prevent rot. Bring indoors or cover during rare hard freezes below 25°F.
Use a coarse, well-draining cactus/succulent mix with 50–70% mineral grit (perlite or coarse sand). Fertilize lightly in spring with a dilute balanced succulent fertilizer; avoid overfeeding.
Semponium is a plant for Zone 9b coastal Florida gardens, reaching 4–8 in × 6–10 in.
