Retains foliage through winter.
Grow in full sun with at least 6–8 hours of direct sunlight for best flowering and disease resistance. In NE Florida, good air circulation is important to reduce powdery mildew, which increases in humid conditions.
Water regularly to establish, then allow soil to dry slightly between waterings. Verbena is drought-tolerant once established and performs best with infrequent deep irrigation rather than frequent shallow watering. Avoid wetting foliage to reduce mildew risk.
Plant in well-drained sandy or loamy soil. Occasional applications of a balanced slow-release fertilizer in spring and summer will sustain bloom. Avoid heavy clay or consistently wet soils, which can cause root rot.
